Short answer
ChatGPT ads and AI answers bring buyers to your site, but you can’t target accounts inside ChatGPT. LinkedIn is where you can. Identify the companies that visit from AI, keep the ones that fit your ICP, and send them to LinkedIn Campaign Manager as a company list. LinkedIn matches the companies (up to 48 hours) and you run ads to their buying committee by job function and seniority. LinkedIn reports results by company, never by person, so measure engaged accounts, return visits and pipeline per account.
Why LinkedIn completes AI ads
ChatGPT ads match the conversation, not the company: targeting works through context hints, location and platform, and custom audiences need 25,000 matched users to include. That makes AI ads good at catching intent and bad at following one account. LinkedIn is the opposite: it can show ads to people at named companies, but it doesn’t know who is researching right now. Put them together and the AI channel finds the accounts, LinkedIn keeps them warm.
The flow, step by step
- A buyer asks AI. An AI answer names you, or a ChatGPT ad answers the next question.
- The company is identified. Visitor identification on your site names the company (never the person), and the UTM on each ad group shows which question brought them.
- It is scored. ICP fit, intent (pages and question) and engagement. Companies that fit go forward.
- It joins a LinkedIn company list. Name and domain, sent to a matched audience in Campaign Manager every day.
- LinkedIn matches it. Up to 48 hours. Then your campaign reaches people at that company by job function and seniority.
- Results come back by company. Impressions, clicks and engagement per company, plus return visits to your site.

What LinkedIn allows, and what it doesn’t
| You can | You can’t |
|---|---|
| Upload a company list (name, domain, website, LinkedIn page URL or ticker) | Upload a list of the people who visited your site |
| Target job functions and seniority at those companies | See which person saw or clicked an ad |
| Report impressions, clicks and conversions by company | Get company data for very small numbers: values under 3 events are dropped |
| Combine paid, organic and website engagement per company in the Company Engagement Report | Run a campaign to fewer than 300 matched members |
Sizing the audience
LinkedIn recommends company lists of at least 1,000 companies and accepts up to 300,000. A campaign needs an audience of at least 300 members to serve. A month of AI-identified ICP companies is often a few dozen to a few hundred companies, so group them: hot accounts at decision stage, warm accounts that read pricing, integration readers. Add job function and seniority rather than narrow job titles. More in which roles to target.
How to measure it
- Engaged accounts: companies that clicked, followed or engaged on LinkedIn after the sync.
- Return visits: synced companies that came back to your site.
- Meetings and pipeline from accounts with both an AI touch and a LinkedIn touch.
Company-level LinkedIn numbers are approximate and can include companies you didn’t target. Read LinkedIn company-level reporting before you compare them with your CRM.
Questions
Can we see which person from a company visited?
No. Visitor identification names the company, and LinkedIn reports by company or by aggregated demographics. Neither tells you who the person was.
How long until a new company can see our LinkedIn ads?
LinkedIn takes up to 48 hours to process a company list, then the campaign serves once the audience has at least 300 members.
Do we need the LinkedIn Marketing API?
No. A CSV upload in Campaign Manager works. The API automates the daily sync, but access is limited to developers LinkedIn approves.
Is this included in AnswerBid packages?
Yes. We send ICP companies to your LinkedIn audience and show LinkedIn results by company in your dashboard. LinkedIn media is paid on your LinkedIn account.
