How visible is Numeric when buyers ask AI?

An independent AEO and GEO audit of Numeric, the finance close platform, built only from public sources. It's the same method we use in a client's first week. Every finding links to its evidence, so you can check our work.

Findings

Six findings, with evidence and fixes.

01Strong, with one gap

The lists AI reads for "best month-end close software"

When an assistant searches the web for a category question, it reads the pages that rank for it and cites a few. We took the five list articles at the top of a web search for "best month-end close software 2026" and recorded where Numeric and its two most-named competitors appear.

What it means

Numeric is in 4 of 5 lists and first in one, a strong position for a younger brand. FloQast and BlackLine are in all five. The one gap, Datarails, is also the most recently updated list. Three of the five lists are written by vendors who rank themselves first or second, which is normal in B2B software and is exactly why AI answers often name more than the obvious leaders.

What we'd do

  • Ask Datarails for inclusion with a short, factual product summary and a customer result they can quote.
  • Re-check these lists monthly. They change, and every update is a chance to move up or drop out.
  • Find the next 10 lists and directories ranking for "close management software" and "FloQast alternatives".

Evidence: list articles read on 12 October 2026, linked in the table.

02Gap

The homepage no longer says "close software"

What we found

Numeric's homepage headline is "The data platform for finance teams." The first line describes "Close, revenue recognition, and cash management with your ERP, or a full replacement when you're ready." The page title is "Numeric | The Data Platform for Finance".

Why it matters for AI answers

Buyers ask AI for the category they know: "month-end close software", "FloQast alternatives". A brand that describes itself in a newer, broader category asks the assistant to make the link. List articles still describe Numeric as close management software, so today the third-party sources carry the category for it.

What we'd do

  • Keep the platform story, but put "close management" in the page title and the first sentence AI reads.
  • Make the Close Management product page the clearest answer to "what is the best close software for a mid-size finance team".
  • Add a short, factual "Numeric is…" paragraph that third-party writers can quote word for word.

03Partial

Comparison pages exist, but aren't built to be quoted

What we found

The sitemap lists comparison pages against FloQast, BlackLine, NetSuite and Stacks, plus blog posts on FloQast and BlackLine pricing and alternatives. That's more than most competitors have. The BlackLine page we read is a marketing page: video, case study cards and testimonials, with no comparison table, no FAQ and no date. A search for "Numeric vs BlackLine" also shows TrustRadius, PeerSpot, rfp.wiki and ERP Research comparing the two.

Why it matters for AI answers

Assistants answer "X vs Y" questions with short, factual statements: who each is for, price model, integrations, time to implement. A page without a table or dated facts gives them little to lift, so they fill the answer from third-party comparison sites instead.

What we'd do

  • Add a dated comparison table to each compare page: best for, ERP support, pricing model, implementation time, AI features.
  • Add a 5-question FAQ that answers the comparison questions buyers actually ask.
  • Write fairly about the competitor. Assistants tend to trust balanced comparisons over one-sided ones.

Evidence: Numeric vs BlackLine page, numeric.io sitemap, TrustRadius, PeerSpot, rfp.wiki, ERP Research

04Gap

Price questions are answered by other sites

What we found

The pricing page lists four products and links each to a demo. Its FAQ says pricing "depends on factors such as transaction volume and number of seats". A search for Numeric's pricing shows Vendr, ERP Research, Toolradar, PricingSaaS and usagepricing.com alongside Numeric's own page.

Why it matters for AI answers

"How much does Numeric cost?" is one of the first questions a buyer asks an assistant. With no figure on the official page, the answer comes from third-party estimates the company doesn't control.

What we'd do

  • Publish a starting price or a typical range by company size, even if the final quote varies.
  • Add a pricing FAQ that answers "how much", "what affects price" and "is implementation included" in one sentence each.
  • Check what Vendr and PricingSaaS say and correct anything outdated.

Evidence: numeric.io/pricing, Vendr, PricingSaaS

05Gap

No public answer to "is it secure?"

What we found

We found no security, trust or SOC 2 page in the sitemap, and the homepage footer links only to terms and privacy. A web search didn't surface a Numeric trust centre either. Numeric may well hold a SOC 2 report; the point is that we couldn't find it from public pages.

Why it matters for AI answers

Finance software buyers ask about SOC 2, data access and ERP permissions early. When the vendor's site has no page for it, an assistant either says it doesn't know or repeats whatever a third-party site says.

What we'd do

  • Publish a security page: certifications with dates, data handling, ERP access model, and a way to request the report.
  • Link it from the footer and the pricing page so crawlers find it.
  • Add an FAQ entry: "Is Numeric SOC 2 compliant?"

Evidence: numeric.io sitemap, homepage footer

06Strong

What Numeric already does well

  • Specific proof: named customers with numbers, such as Brex reducing time to close from 6 to 4 days, Public.com's 3x team output and DailyPay's 80% of flux first drafts written by AI. Specific, attributable numbers are what assistants quote.
  • Reviews: 4.8 out of 5 on G2 from 65 reviews.
  • Depth: about 175 blog posts, including competitor pricing and alternatives articles that rank for competitor names.
  • A homepage FAQ that answers real buyer questions, such as using Numeric with an existing ERP.

Evidence: numeric.io homepage, G2 reviews, sitemap, read 12 October 2026.

If Numeric were our client

The first 30 days.

Nothing here needs new headcount. Every change would go live only after the client approves it.

  1. Week 1

    Baseline

Track 50 buyer questions daily in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot: share of answers against FloQast and BlackLine, and the sources each answer cites.

  2. Week 1–2

Category wording in the homepage title and first line; comparison tables and FAQs on the four compare pages; a pricing FAQ.

  3. Week 2–3

    Security page

A public trust page with certifications, data handling and a report request, linked from the footer and pricing.

  4. Week 3–4

    Sources

Inclusion requests to lists that leave Numeric out, corrections on third-party pricing sites, and a review push on G2 for "close management".

  5. Ongoing

    Report and repeat

A weekly report against the week-one baseline, and the list check repeated every month.

Method and limits

How we did this, and what we didn't do.

What we checked

  • The five list articles at the top of a web search for "best month-end close software 2026", read in full.
  • Numeric's homepage, pricing page, a comparison page and sitemap.
  • Review profiles and third-party comparison and pricing sites.

What this public version leaves out

  • We didn't sample answers inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews or Copilot here. Answers vary by user and day, and a fair measurement needs daily tracking, which is what clients get.
  • We couldn't read Numeric's robots.txt or llms.txt with our tools, so crawler access isn't scored.
  • Pages change. Everything here reflects what was public on 12 October 2026.
