Short answer
Visitor identification gives you the company, not the person, so target the buying committee by job function and seniority, chosen from what the company read. Pricing and demo pages point to budget holders; integration pages to systems owners; security pages to IT and security; comparison and product pages to the team that will use the tool. Group accounts with the same signal into 1:few campaigns so each audience passes LinkedIn’s 300-member minimum.
You know the company, not the person
Reverse-IP identification names organisations. LinkedIn reports by company or aggregated demographics. Neither tells you who visited, and you shouldn’t try to find out. Target the roles that buy, at the companies that showed intent.
From pages read to roles
| What the company read | Likely role in the decision | LinkedIn targeting |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing, demo, plans | Budget holder | Finance or the buying function, Director and above |
| Integration pages | Systems owner | IT or operations systems, Manager and above |
| Security, compliance | Security review | IT and security, Manager and above |
| Comparison, product tour | Daily user and champion | The user function, Senior and Manager |
| Blog, checklist, templates | Early researcher | The user function, all seniorities |
Use functions and seniority rather than narrow job titles: titles vary, and narrow targeting shrinks audiences below what LinkedIn will serve.
Group accounts into 1:few campaigns
A campaign needs at least 300 matched members. One mid-size company rarely has that many people in one function, so group accounts that share a signal:
- Hot, decision stage: demo offer, frequency capped.
- Warm, read pricing: the pricing table and a customer story.
- Integration readers: the setup guide for their system.
Our client dashboard demo suggests roles for each account and these clusters on the LinkedIn ABM screen.
Questions
Can we target the exact person who visited?
No. Identification is company-level, and LinkedIn doesn’t reveal individual visitors.
Job titles or job functions?
Functions and seniority. They cover title variations and keep audiences large enough to serve.
How many accounts per campaign?
Enough to reach at least 300 matched members with your function and seniority filters; often 10–30 mid-size companies.
