How to change a campaign's objective or billing

By the Answerbid teamVerified 12 October 20262 min read

Short answer

You can't change the objective or billing model of an existing ChatGPT ads campaign. Use Clone Campaign to create a copy with a different objective or billing (for example clicks to impressions in a Conversions campaign), check the settings, then pause the original.

Steps

  1. Open the campaign's menu and choose Clone Campaign
  2. Select the new objective or billing model
  3. Check budget, dates, countries, conversion event and ad groups
  4. Launch the clone and let it pass review
  5. Pause the original once the clone is serving

Before you switch

  • Conversions needs Pixel or Conversions API data and a supported standard event
  • Budget must be at least your highest effective bid
  • Reporting for the two campaigns stays separate, so compare them by date range

Questions

Can I change a daily budget back to a campaign total?

No. Changing campaign-total to daily is one-way.
