Short answer
Country targeting decides where your ads are eligible. To limit delivery to the United States you must include the United States explicitly; excluding other countries isn't enough. Standard campaigns can also target regions, cities, markets and postal codes where available. Product feed campaigns support country level only.
Options
| Level | Standard campaigns | Product feed campaigns |
|---|---|---|
| Country include/exclude | Yes | Yes |
| State or region | Where available | No |
| City, market (DMA), postal code | Where available | No |
Common mistakes
- Only excluding countries, so ads run everywhere else
- Targeting countries a new account isn't yet eligible for
- Expecting context hints to restrict geography: they can't
- Changing targeting and expecting past reports to change: they don't
Questions
Can we target a list of companies' locations?
No. Location targeting is geographic; there is no company or IP targeting.
