How to write ChatGPT ads for B2B, with examples

A good B2B ChatGPT ad answers the question the buyer just asked, in one line, and gives a specific reason to click. It sits under an answer that already explained the category, so it doesn't need to explain it again.

Where the ad sits

The ad appears in a labelled sponsored block below ChatGPT's answer. The buyer has just read a neutral explanation of the options. Your ad is the next thing they see.

A simple structure

  1. Headline that names the outcome in the buyer's terms: "Close the books in 5 days, not 12".
  2. One line of proof or fit: "Built for finance teams at 100–1,000 person companies."
  3. A destination that continues the answer: a comparison page, a pricing page or a short guide, not your homepage.

Examples by stage

Buyer question Headline Supporting line
How do we shorten month-end close? Close the books in 5 days, not 12 Automated reconciliation for mid-size finance teams
Best close software for NetSuite users Close software that syncs with NetSuite Live in about six weeks, no consultants needed
Tool A vs tool B for finance teams Comparing close tools? See the differences Side-by-side table: features, pricing and rollout time
Alternatives to spreadsheets for reconciliation Stop reconciling in spreadsheets Matching rules your auditors can follow

All examples use a fictional product.

Claims and the ad policy

OpenAI's ad policy prohibits unfounded claims about capabilities, pricing or outcomes, exaggerated results and false endorsements. In practice:

  • Use numbers you can show on the landing page.
  • Say "up to" only if the maximum is real and documented.
  • Compare with competitors only on facts you can source.

Creative habits that work

  • Write three versions per ad group and keep the one that brings companies that fit your profile, not just clicks.
  • Refresh copy monthly. We write six new ads a month for each client.
  • Keep the brand voice plain. The answer above your ad is plain; a sales tone stands out for the wrong reason.

Three versions of one ad

Buyer question: "How do we shorten month-end close?" Fictional product.

Version Headline Supporting line What it tests
A Close the books in 5 days, not 12 Automated reconciliation for mid-size finance teams Outcome
B Month-end close without the spreadsheets Task lists, reconciliations and sign-offs in one place Pain
C How three finance teams halved their close A 6-minute read with their checklists Proof and content

Run all three for four weeks. Keep the version that brings the most companies that fit your profile.

Writing for the person, not the platform

  • Write as if replying to the buyer's question in a meeting.
  • Use their words: "the books", "close", "recs", not your internal product names.
  • One idea per ad. If you need two, write two ads.

Questions

Can ChatGPT ads include images?

Check what Ads Manager offers for your campaign. Where a visual is available, use a clean product screenshot or a simple illustration; busy visuals don't read well under an answer.

How long should the copy be?

Short. The answer above it already did the explaining. A headline and one supporting line are usually enough.

Should we mention price?

Only if it's a strength and matches the landing page exactly.
